MD Proceeds with Re-entry Strategy

Upon learning of Premier Kenney’s announcement regarding an acceleration of the Government of Alberta’s Stage II Relaunch Strategy, the MD of Lesser Slave River has been working to satisfy the opening requirements of the province.

MD-managed infrastructure is being assessed and maintained to ensure their compliance with public health and safety standards.

Council is closely monitoring the MD’s local re-entry activities. At this stage, the MD’s goal is to strike a balance between the Alberta government’s re-entry framework, public health considerations, and the autonomy of those seeking to freely enjoy MD-managed parks, facilities and open spaces.

It is imperative, however, that everyone continues to follow mandatory public health orders, practices physical distancing and good hygiene, and continues acting responsibly.

Both the MD administration office in Slave Lake and the MD sub-office in Flatbush are now open for public service during their regular business hours, while having precautionary measures in place to safeguard employees and the community.

The MD applauds local business owners and community members for their strict compliance with enhanced public health and safety measures in response to the pandemic. It is largely due to this collective vigilance that the MD – and the province of Alberta – have made it to Stage 2 re-entry sooner than expected.

Residents are thanked for their continued understanding as the MD works to implement local reopening plans and timelines. Please continue to monitor mdlsr.ca/COVID-19 for up-to-date information.
