MD Encourages Virtual Garage Sales

Updates Related to the COVID-19 Pandemic

In view of ongoing Provincial Health Orders restricting physical distancing and mass gatherings, the MD is asking residents to consider virtual options for this year’s garage and yard sale season.

As an alternative to hosting these popular in-person events, the MD suggests residents hold virtual garage/yard sales using credible online platforms such as Facebook Marketplace or Kijiji. Using contactless pick-up/drop-off points, and payment methods is also recommended.

Should residents choose to proceed with holding an in-person garage or yard sale, it is very important that they continue to comply with public health orders and adhere to the Alberta government’s mass gathering restrictions. Violations of these orders may result in significant fines being issued under the Emergency Management Act or Public Health Act.

In addition, the MD asks for those hosting or participating in garage or yard sales to consider taking some of the following steps to help minimize any risk of COVID-19 transmission:
